Our third year involvement with the NUS FSAE Race Car project was in 2008. We secured a number of press and media for the project. We were also a 2008 Silver Sponsor for the project. With 2008 being the inaugural year for the Singtel Formula One Grand Prix, it was an exciting for us to plan and secure promotional events for the project.
The first of such projects to the run up of the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix 2008 was to secure a spot for the NUS FSAE Race Car project in the Malaysia-Singapore Vintage Car Register (MSVCR) which held an event at the National Library Board in February 2008. Prof Seah Kar Heng, project advisor, also gave a short talk on his team and project. ESPN Star Sports was also present to televise the event. It was a great day for the family and to see impeccable examples of the glory days of the motorcars and quite a few racing cars too which are still competing in races today.
The second of such projects to the run up of the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix 2008 was to secure a spot for the NUS FSAE Race Car project at the K1 Grand Finale at F1 Paddock in Marina Bay as part of the National Day Celebrations 2008. The NUS FSAE team displayed two of their design-and-built race cars and talked to public who dropped by their booth. An estimated 30,000 visited the event which had its guest of honour, Mr LUI Tuck Yew and Mr Teo Ser Luck from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
